Border Battle Victory: Team USA Edges Out Canada to Punch Ticket to WBC Semifinals!

The rivalry between North American neighbors reached a boiling point at Houston's Daikin Park as Team USA faced Canada in a do-or-die World Baseball Classic (WBC) Quarterfinal. In front of a sellout crowd of over 38,000 fans, the United States secured a hard-fought 5-3 victory, keeping their championship defense alive.

Early Dominance and the Canadian Comeback

Team USA took control early, jumping to a commanding 5-0 lead through the first five innings. Stars like Aaron Judge and Pete Crow-Armstrong provided the offensive spark, while starter Logan Webb was untouchable on the mound, pitching 4.2 scoreless innings.

However, the "Maple Leafs" didn't go down without a fight. In the 6th inning, Canada’s Bo Naylor crushed a massive two-run home run, cutting the deficit to 5-3 and silencing the American crowd.

Closing the Door
The tension was palpable in the late innings, but the U.S. bullpen held firm. Mason Miller came in for the 9th inning and showcased elite velocity, striking out the side to earn the save and send Team USA to the next round.

With this victory, the United States moves on to Miami for a high-stakes Semifinal matchup against the Dominican Republic on Sunday, March 15. This marks the third consecutive WBC Semifinal appearance for the Americans as they look to retain their world title.
For Canada, despite the loss, this tournament was a historic success as they reached the quarterfinals for the first time in program history.
